Death ..

Well, I was rather busy for the last two days, however, it was not enough to keep my mind from wandering. Dennis’ Yarziet was the 27th and it was difficult for me to focus on anything Thursday or Friday. The sad part was .. only 3 people mentioned Dennis from the Shul.

On another note, someone important to me had to make a very hard decision Friday. That decision was whether to unplug the life support or not .. they chose to unplug. Unfortunately, the baby did not have the strength to survive. I have always said and will always say … No one should ever have to bury their child.

More to come .. just be patient …

Ok, so I am not really a Johny Depp fan, but I must admin, Sweeney Todd looks like it is going to be a good movie. I will have to watch it and find out.

That’s all for tonight.. Tomorrow is a trip to Houston and ….

Just my thoughts …

Hearing opens on ex-KBR worker’s rape allegation

WASHINGTON — A House committee has opened a hearing on a woman’s allegations that she was raped and detained while working in Iraq for a contractor.

Jamie Leigh Jones was in the House hearing room along with a second woman, Tracy Lee Barker, to tell their stories. Jones, who used to live in Conroe, Texas, says says she was raped by her colleagues and held against her will while working for KBR Inc., a former subsidiary of Halliburton and a large contractor in Iraq.

Several members of Congress have criticized the Justice Department and other agencies in the case. They say the agencies failed Jones by not properly investigating her claims.

The Associated Press does not normally name victims of sexual assault, but these women have allowed their names to be broadcast and published.

===================================

Let’s see, there has been reports that a Military doctor performed a physical exam and determined that the woman had in fact been raped. From what I have heard in the press, the military did rescue her from a shipping container. What is there to investigate?

I’ll be watching this case with interest!

What a day!

Ok, so I get up, do my morning duty and leave like a normally do.

As I am coming up on 1314 heading to work, I think to myself, I should take 59 into the city. I should have listened. There was a car accident down by the beltway, a car-b-que down by I-10 and another in the medical center. By the time I hear all this on the radio, it’s too late, I am less then a mile from 45 and it is too late to turn around. Needless to say, I was late to work.

Good news at work, I made the grade and improved my stats and the company is buying my lunch for a week. Some week, today and tomorrow, I am off the rest of it!

I get home, get something to eat and go to the fire station for training, guess what .. we’re training on a car-b-que!

Houston is interesting. I like to listen to Michael Berry on KTRH 740 on the way home and his topic today was the fact that the government thinks we need moer money for programs to help battered women. While I can agree with that, I think it is ridiculous where the government thinks that money should come from .. a $5.00 per person tax on the patrons that go to topless bars! Come on! What next? A tax on all bars? Oh, how about more tax on alcohol? No wait! How about we just increase the sales tax some more? Where will it stop?

Ok, I have moved the site and now in it’s “permanent” home, I lost the database connections to the old stuff and have to start again .. what do you think?
